O - Open Meeting - These meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics may attend open meetings as observers.
C - Closed Meeting - These meetings are available only for AA Members or for those who think they may be an alcoholic and have a desire to stop drinking.
B- Beginner's Meeting - These meetings are designed to introduce new members to the program and are usually run by more experienced members. (New members are not limited to beginner meetings and may attend any meeting type.)
BB - Big Book Study - A portion of the Big Book is read and discussed.
D- Discussion - At these meetings a topic is chosen at the beginning of the meeting and various members share on that topic.
L - Literature - At these meeting, based on the decision of the group conscience for each group, different types of AA approved or AA related literature is read and discussed.
Sp - Speaker - An individual is invited to share their experience, strength, and hope with the group and is often followed by a short period of discussion.
SS - Step Study - Often using the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions the meeting focuses on the Twelve Steps of AA.
Tr - Tradition Meeting - One of the Twelve Traditions is discussed.
